ADING

Let’s be real, Mother’s Day should really be called Superhero Day. It can be hard to show your mom just how much you care, but we’re here to help. Whether you’re a Missoula local or simply passing through, here are some extra special ways to spend Mother’s Day in Missoula:

Grab Brunch

Every great Sunday begins with brunch, right? The Comfort Inn offers free breakfast for all of our guests, but if you’re craving a Sunday-morning mimosa there are plenty of delicious options for brunch in Missoula. Try The Catalyst for outdoor, indoor and fun upper-level seating, or try something new and visit Gild or Bayern Brewing for a brewery’s unique take on Sunday brunch.

Shop Downtown

Enjoying fresh air and sunshine can go hand-in-hand with Sunday afternoon shopping when you’re in Missoula. Peruse boutiques, unique speciality shops, Montana-made goods and more in the charming downtown streets of Missoula. Butterfly Herbs has been selling bulk herbs and spices, teas, and gifts in Missoula for over 40 years. Soul City Dry Goods is the perfect place to find Montana-themed clothing, art, gifts and souvenirs. For a taste of Missoula’s art scene, swing in galleries like 4 Ravens and Radius. Last, but certainly not least, be sure to take a shopping break to grab one of the best cookies you’ve tasted from Mary’s Mountain Cookies.

If you’re hanging around Missoula on Saturday, make sure to check out the weekly Farmers Market, located just east of Caras Park in downtown Missoula, or the unique Vintage Market being held at Fort Missoula!

Painting with a Twist

Mix it up this Mother’s Day! You’re bound to find unique Missoula goods while shopping downtown, but nothing is quite as special as a gift you make yourself. Painting With a Twist offers a comfortable environment and all the supplies you need to unleash your creative side! Simply sign up for one of their classes this Sunday and enjoy step-by-step guidance from local Missoula artists.

Catch a Show

Live music and theatre are both easy go-to’s for every celebration in Missoula. Draught Works has local musicians playing every Sunday, Rumor Restaurant has a special Mother’s Day performance planned, and the Missoula Community Theatre is showing their latest performance, Disney’s Newsies – The Broadway Musical.

Take a Hike

Sometimes the best gift of all is an escape into nature, and a chance to slow things down and smell the spring flowers blooming in Missoula. Head out to Blue Mountain Recreation Area for wide-open trails full of happy dogs, people on horseback, mountain bikers and more. For one of the best views of the city, hike to the iconic “M” on Mount Sentinel. If all else fails, take a leisurely stroll through Caras Park and watch the surfers take on Brennan’s Wave.

Bonus: Mother’s Day Gift Guide

If you’re still searching for the perfect last-minute gift, look no further. Here are three unique stops for the perfect present:

Rockin’ Rudy’s

Rockin’ Rudy’s might have the most eclectic array of gifts we’ve ever seen. No matter what you’re looking for (or didn’t realize you were looking for until you got to Rockin’ Rudy’s), they’ve got it.

The Good Food Store NEST

The Good Food Store may look like nothing more than a natural grocery store from the outside, but head to NEST inside and find an impressive collection of cookware, appliances and unique gifts. While you’re there, may as well grab a bottle of wine to go along with whatever you choose!

The Trail Head

For the all of the outdoorsy moms out there that never cease to impress us, stop by The Trailhead and grab something fun for her next outing.
