Step by Step: Exploring Missoula by Foot

Missoula is a very walkable city, and that is great news for visitors who like to explore new cities by foot! To the Riverfront Trail : 676 steps

The beautiful Riverfront Walking Trail follows the Clark Fork River and allows access to many sites in town. Take a stroll along the waterway, read interpretive signs along the way, and enjoy the sights and sounds of the river that bisects Missoula.

To Jacob’s Island Bark Park: 902 steps

Jacob’s Island Bark Park is a beautiful dog park located on a small island on the Clark Fork River. Dogs can play in the water and run through the grasses and trees that are naturally found in a river valley. It is also simply a stunning place to take in views of the river and of the surrounding mountains.

To the University of Montana: 1353 steps

Home to the University of Montana Grizzlies, the stadium is the heart of the University and a great place to spend a Satuday in fall.

Beautiful downtown Missoula, with its historic buildings, great shopping and delicious dining, is a quick walk from Comfort Inn’s front door. Venues like the historic Wilma Theatre, where you can catch world-class live music, and the Missoula Art Museum, a free modern art museum, are some of the treasures to be found in our charming downtown district.

To Greenough Park: 1804 steps

Located on the north end of town, Greenough is a lovely place to take a walk by Rattlesnake Creek and cool off in the summer months. This shaded park also has a playground, a pavilion, and many smaller side trails to find perfect solitude right outside the heart of downtown.

Caras Park, located on the Clark Fork River in downtown Missoula, is home to many events throughout the year including summer’s Out To Lunch and Downtown ToNight, as well as brewfests, concerts, and more!

To the Missoula Osprey Stadium: 3835 steps

Missoula’s Osprey baseball team plays in the summer months in Missoula, and you can take a nice leisurely stroll through downtown Missoula along the Riverfront Walking Trail to access the stadium!

To the M: 4624 steps

From the front door of the Comfort Inn, you can be at the “M” in only 4624 steps! Take in the views from the iconic M Trail, a short and steep hike on Mount Sentinel and, if you’re up for the elevation challenge, continue onwards to the summit.
